NEW HERE?

What to Expect

East City Wesleyan Church (ECW) is a multi-ethnic & multi-generational church of about 250 people. There are people who have been following Jesus for many years, some years, or are simply exploring what faith is. No matter what your background might be or what you do for a living, there are people who attend who can relate with you. ECW is a community of people who are seeking to grow into all that God has for them, and you are welcome on that journey, too!

What not to Expect

Perfect people: We're all a "work in progress," and none of us are perfect. If you're looking for a group of people that never make mistakes, ECW isn't for you.

To be the only guest: We have many guests come through the doors on a Sunday morning who are just checking things out. You won't be the only guest in the building.

Pressure: We understand that people at ECW might just be exploring what faith is. Just sit back and observe what church at ECW is all about. Don't give money. No Pressure. Just explore.

Dress Code: Some people like to look nice, but many simply come as they are in their everyday attire.

Car Park

The main car park is on church property. If there is no room in the main car park, a parking attendant will assist you further.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

We've thought of a few

We realise you might have lots of questions, and we're happy to be as clear and as helpful as possible.  Check out some of the most frequently asked questions below.  If you've got a question that we haven't answered, feel free to email us!

Q. I'm interested, Where do I start?

A. The best place to start is to simply attend our service and get connected through filling out a Connection Card and talking to someone at Starting Point.

Q. Are you going to ask me for money?

A. No! We will not ask guests for money. Even though we do pass a bag around in the middle of the service, we only expect those who call ECW their home church to give and invest in the church.

Q. What if I don't believe the same as you and I just want to check church out?

A. That is awesome! We want you to know that ECW is a safe place for you to explore faith, and if you have any questions, you can freely ask one of our staff members either through their email or in person at church.

Q. How do I get my questions about God, Jesus, and the Bible answered?

A. You're welcome to come to church and ask any questions you might have. If that seems a bit too much, then you can email the office at ECW, and we would love to help.

Q. I already go to a church, should I attend here instead?

A. If you are already a part of a great church that is Bible centred, then you should stay with your church. However, if you feel that your church no longer engages the community and focuses on evangelism, then we would love to have you join us.

Q. Are you connected to a particular denomination?

A. Yes, we are connected to the Wesleyan Methodist Church of New Zealand.

Q. What is your denominational theological understanding?

A. We are an Evangelistic, Protestant church that has roots in the Wesley tradition that was established in the 18th century.
